What you get

  • A named governance professional. One accountable person, contactable by the chair and head between meetings.
  • The meeting cycle. Agendas, papers, attendance, meeting support, draft minutes, actions and the forward plan.
  • Governance records. Membership, terms of office, declarations of interest, attendance and the formal record.
  • GovernorHub. Membership, permissions, document areas and meeting information kept current.
  • GIAS and published information. Governance details on GIAS and your governance webpage kept in line, where in scope.
  • Responsibility tracker. Recurring actions, review dates, statutory deadlines, owners and current status.
  • Procedural advice. Quorum, delegation, terms of reference and panel composition, answered within 1 working day.
  • A documented handover. A clean transfer to the permanent postholder, access removed as agreed.

Who we cover

Maintained school governing boards, single-academy and multi-academy trust boards, local governing bodies and committees. For one absence, a term, or the year it takes to recruit. We work inside your systems under your own permissions rather than moving you onto ours.

If we miss a date

That meeting is not charged. A late handover pack reduces the final invoice by 25%. Retainers run 12 months on a rolling basis, either side ending on 30 days’ notice.

Practical answers

How quickly can it start?

Tell us the next meeting date and you will have a yes or no the same working day. A takeover normally begins with access, the membership record and the forward plan, so the first meeting under our cover runs to the standard timescales rather than to a catch-up one.

Is this the same as an interim clerk to governors?

Yes. Governance professional is the term in current DfE guidance; many schools still say clerk to governors, and some say board secretary. The role is the same and it is wider than minute-taking: independent procedural advice to the chair, the administration behind the meeting, and a record that supports the board’s decisions rather than describing the discussion.

Will we have the same person throughout?

Yes. One named professional is accountable for the agreed scope and it stays that person. You are not allocated whoever is free that week.

What happens when it ends?

A handover pack within 10 working days of the end date: the record, the tracker, membership and terms, and the forward plan, so a successor can pick the role up without an induction. Access is removed as agreed. If it is late, the final invoice is reduced by 25%.

Meeting cover when it is one date rather than the role. Specialist panels for complaints, exclusions and employment hearings. Governance recovery when the records need putting right first. Service levels for the commitments in full.

Your first meeting

Approve the draft minutes. Then we invoice.Start with one meeting. You see how the papers are prepared, how the chair is supported in the room, and the minutes that go on the record, and you approve them before anything is charged.

Tell us what needs covering
Need governance support?

Tell us what needs covering.

What has changed, your next important date, and anything that needs attention now. We will confirm availability and the right support.

Nothing is charged for the work until you have approved the draft minutes of your first meeting. After that, an agreed scope or a retainer. Standard meetings from 48 hours’ notice, subject to papers and availability.

Meeting, hearing or start date. Next twelve months, if known.
